The Sacramento Fire Department said the fire, which began shortly after 8:35 p.m., raged in the 15th and Q streets area.
Multiple units were called to the scene to put out a fire in the attic of their home.
Q Street will be closed between 15th and 16th Streets, and 16th Street will be closed at R Street while crews work to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. No injuries have been reported.
A fire department spokesman said the house is currently under construction or being renovated, so no one is living there.
In addition, both houses directly adjacent to the one on fire suffered minor cosmetic damage.
