(CNN) — A man reportedly missing from the Carnival Valor, which was sailing in the Gulf of Mexico, was found in the water on Thursday and was rescued, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The missing passenger was responsive during the rescue and was transferred to paramedics waiting at New Orleans Lakefront Airport, USCG Petty Officer Ryan Graves told CNN Thursday.

The man was last seen by his sister Wednesday night at a bar aboard the Carnival Cruise Line ship, according to a statement obtained by CNN from Carnival spokesperson Matt Lupoli. He said he left the bar around 11:00 to use the restroom and never returned to his private room.
