On New Year’s Day, Ouro Pizzeria, a Brazilian pizza concept, was confirmed to open on Eat Street Crossing in late 2023.
It’s the brainchild of Gabriella Grant Spangler and Ben Spangler, teamed up with Bebe Zito Ice Cream of Lindale Avenue and Malcolm Yards, along with Jon Ng and Lina Goe of Zen Box Eat Eats. I am also involved in the opening of Street Crossing. Izakaya.
Originally, Eat Street Crossing was scheduled to open on 28th Street and Nicollet Avenue in the summer of 2022, but Ouro Pizzaria’s announcement said the food hall is slated to open in the winter of 2023.
The Bebe Zito team describes their pizza venue as an elaborate tradition, from savory items such as Brazilian “cheese + oregano” to decadent dessert pizzas with chocolate, fresh fruit and dos de leite. It captures “traditional and non-traditional toppings.”
For Gabriella Grant-Spangler, this is an ode to her ancestry, descended from Italian immigrants to Brazil, whose parents are both from South American countries.
“Ouro Pizzeria expresses more clearly how Brazilians feel, what it means to be Brazilian. Being Brazilian is a different way of thinking, It’s a unique and vibrant approach to life,” she said.
“We are excited to represent it and offer Twin Cities diners another option to experience it. Most Brazilian options in town are steakhouses. We use fresh, healthy ingredients. and provide a lot of fun.”
Food Hall couple partners Ng and Goh announced at the opening that they will be opening a ramen shop at the venue.
