“They look very legit,” said Red Sox utility man extraordinaire Quique Hernandez. “I’d like to get a uniform like that and kind of look back at the past. Those uniforms were really cool for sure.”
The Penguins wore uniforms from the 1925 Pittsburgh Pirates season.
Apparently, the baseball uniform wasn’t a coordinated effort, but according to Penguin coach Mike Sullivan, it was still a fitting one.
“We weren’t working with the Bruins, or at least I didn’t realize I did,” Sullivan said. “I think it’s really appropriate, and for an event like this in such an iconic stadium, I think it’s appropriate in many ways.I’ve spent many years at this stadium, but for me I think that’s just part of the entertainment value, but I know the players were excited, and I’m sure Boston was as well.”
The Bruins hit the ground running by playing catch on the field at Fenway Park before the 2:00 p.m. puck drop (TNT, SN, TVAS).

“I would go on the field with them and play catch with that glove,” Hernandez said. “It took a lot more talent to catch the ball in that glove than it does now. Especially for me, playing here at Fenway and in April he played in that glove in May. is not funny at all.”

The Bruins even had a pregame pep talk on the field, and the Green Monsters got into the spirit of things by listing Sunday’s Atlantic Division standings and NHL scores.

“A combination of ‘Field of Dreams’ and ‘Eight Men Out'” is how Bruins coach Jim Montgomery referred to baseball uniforms. I left with a bang, but once again, I will remember how lucky I was to be a part of such a wonderful event.”
This is the second time the Winter Classic will be held at the 110-year-old home of the Boston Red Sox. The Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in the 2010 Winter Classic.
This time both teams hit the exact note arriving in the game. When entering the famous Fenway Park, you need to dress up.
